Thank you for all that candid, honest information! The more honest you are with yourself & with a coach, the more you can accomplish changing your lifestyle! It sounds like you could benefit greatly from fitness coaching! The motivation from coaching & commitments made through goal setting, by writing them down in a fitness journal, will help you to prioritize health, fitness & an active lifestyle, in your life! 1-2 #'s/week is a realistic goal! A 4-8 month goal is a good range goal (a "range" goal permits some relapses, that will normally occur) to achieve your 30# weight loss & to make fitness a top priority in your life, thus creating a permanent lifestyle change!:-}

A coach helps you MAKE the time, rather than "find" the time for your health/fitness. Kristina, you have to MAKE fitness a priority, from a position of strength, like a second job. Try to find a trainer, (if you haven't worked much with resistance training equipment, you might consider 3 sessions-1/week, with a trainer to help you operate the machines properly & safely), or a doctor to give you a % body fat test, & take your measurements (you can get a measuring tape & take your own; the hips & waist are most important). Set goals for inches to lose, like weight to lose, 1"/week is reasonable (IE 1/2" from the hips, & 1/2" from the waist)

We need to monitor your inches lost (&/or % body fat if possible) closely. You will lose alot of water weight at first, (the first 4-6 weeks) then you won't make many "noticeable" changes for a few weeks while you are gaining muscle & losing fat. This is when 75% of the unmotivated, (or uncoached), &/or people not on a progressive (always doing a little more toward your goal) training program, who are insecure about what they are doing because of lack of direction &/or know how, drop out & quit, returning to their non-healthy lifestyle out of frustration! This is what is called the YOYO effect, & can continue, year after year, to make people more & more overweight & unfit! his is the crucial point to have a coach, Kristina, to help keep you motivated through it, because it is very frustrating to work at this & not "see" many "noticeable" changes. But, Kristina, you are actually making great gains within your body during this time, by creating muscle, you are stimulating your metabolism to increase it's burning ability, & thus you burn off alot of fat, you just don't "see" it! This is why most people quit at this point, they don't "SEE" any tangible RESULTS, but they really are there!

Most people,(about 80%) who don't have much of self motivation (inner strength), &/or who don't understand this concept, will quit during this "metamorphosis" stage! It is important to stay on track & keep motivated until you start physically "seeing" RESULTS, then you can stay motivated better! A workout partner helps keep you motivated tremendously, as does the positive atmosphere of a gym, or a place where others are working on self improvement too!

You said you have access to a gym (& the stationary bike is great, I have one & a pilate machine, as well as a step bench at home for home workouts, when I don't feel like going to the gym), can you get a motivating workout partner? You might be able to find one at the gym, if you don't know of anyone else (family, friends, or a person @ work). The more positive, fit people you can surround your self with, the more positive influence you will have & the more likely you CAN change into this fitness lifestyle!

(Change your lifestyle to healthy & active, by making fitness a top PRIORITY for you, & the weight will come off & STAY off, otherwise, it just keeps coming back in a yoyo effect from "chasing" the fat, then quitting!). The diet coach is excellent @ helping people change their mind-set about yoyo eating habits!

Controlling anxiety with a stress management program can be a major help to some people who "fall of the wagon", & eat for pleasure (instead of eating to live, some people live to eat, especially when under stress; 75% fail when under fire!) when depressed or anxious! I had some trouble with this, myself, until I found anxiety/stress to be the culprit, & anxiety management was the key to successfully beating it! I have access to a 4 month course from the Midwest Institute, called "Attacking Anxiety", that has been real successful for many of my clients with pleasure (self medicating anxiety &/or depression, which often go hand in hand!) eating problems!

The colds you get are from a low functioning, &/or "shocked", immunity system, (this will happen when you first start the fit lifestyle change, because you body is "shocked" from it's lower functioning lifestyle to a higher one), which can also be from a low metabolism, ( from not enough activity=> you need 30 minutes of activity, above your target heart rate, daily), &/or not getting enough fruits & vegetables (you need 4-5 servings, one every 4-5 hrs., daily). The friuts between meals are a real good thing, Kristina, you have already started a health consciousness with that step!

I recommend we get you started on my coaching program with 5 or 10 trial consultations! This will let you know that motivation & direction from a fitness coach can help get you motivated to start a custom designed fitness program, & you should be able to recognize by the end of a month or so, if this is the kind of help that will help you stay on a program of progressive fitness toward a permanent lifestyle change! I'm sure this can help you, Kristina! Are you consulting with the Diet coach about your chocolate cravings & healthy eating habits? I would recommend getting her tape, & maybe a few consultations also, if possible. We work together in situations like your's, with me focusing on my niche, the fitness, & with her focusing on her niche, the eating habits!

I recommend 2 consultations per week with myself, (the first couple months or so, then when you see some RESULTS, we can cut back to one per week) in which we will get everything you do (exercise, & eating) written down in a fitness journal. You can e-mail me & ask questions as much as you want, at your convenience! About every 3 days, (2/wk.) I will e-mail you a detailed outline of your program, adjusting it according to your feedback from your e-mails! ok? After you get your RESULTS (in October, after you get the 30#'s off), I recommend having one session every other week for a couple months, then just one per month for 2-3 months tomake sure your fitness lifestyle is concrete & lasts!

Also, please take your measurements (& % body fat, if possible) & we will set a goal for them (weight is illusive, since it can be in the form of muscle, or fat). E-mail me everything you eat, & the exercises you do, including 1) cardio exercise- type & time of endurance, 2) resistance training what machines, weights, # of reps & sets. 3) stretching-what exercises & how many reps & how long you spend @ each.
